Debt and Welfare Advice South Tyneside
Do you need help and advice and don’t know where to turn?
Are you unsure of what benefits you could be claiming?
Are you overwhelmed with the benefit forms & find them confusing?
Worried around final demands or debt collection notices?
Are your monthly outgoings so high that you have no money left for necessities? How can we help with your Onward Support Journey.
As the cost of living is rising every month, we have more people than ever before struggling, needing help around benefits, housing & debt, in particular. In our last year, the project engaged over 927 Individuals returning an incredible £2,294,000 to the local community.
Our highly trained advisors are from Age Concern Tyneside South. They are specially trained to help with queries from any age at all, as well as champion the issues that are important for older people aged 55+
A large part of the service they offer is around advising what benefits and help you (or a family member) may be entitled to. They can help with the applications and form filling it in, especially if you find them overwhelming. They can help navigate which route is best for you (or your family members) depending on your own personal situation. We want to help with that onward support journey.
Anything you discuss with our Advisors is completely confidential. They make no judgements about your situation. They want you to understand you are not alone. They are here to help. They can help as little or as much as you feel you need.
Our advisors can advise on best practice around housing and debt too. They can collaborate with other organisations on your behalf. Such as Citizens Advice – the people’s champion – a charity which gives practical advice on everyday matters from benefits, to housing to family law. Or Stepchange a national debt charity who offers free debt advice to help you take control of your finances. Stepchange can assess your income and outgoings and look to liaise with the companies you owe money to, to freeze the interest so debts do not keep growing, while they negotiate affordable payments on your behalf.
In the past year alone, our advisors have recovered more than £1 million pounds of benefits for those struggling financially in our community.
