Food Parcel Requests
Important Changes to Accessing Our Food Bank
At Hospitality & Hope, we are committed to providing the right support, at the right time, in the right way.
We know that people facing financial hardship often need more than just food. Many also benefit from advice around benefits, debt, housing, employment and wellbeing.
To help ensure people receive the most appropriate support, we have now ended our Self-Referral Request service for Food Parcels.
This change aligns with the wider Trussell network and many other food banks across the country, ensuring emergency food is accessed alongside the wider support needed to address the underlying causes of financial hardship.
Accessing an Emergency Food Parcel
Emergency food parcels must now be requested through a recognised referral agency or professional working with you, such as:
- Citizens Advice
- Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)
- STARS
- Housing providers
- Social Services
- Healthcare professionals
- Other recognised support agencies
If you are unsure who can make a referral, we will be happy to signpost you to an appropriate organisation.
Please note: We are no longer able to accept food parcel requests directly from members of the public by email, telephone, WhatsApp or in person.
Please do not attend the Food Bank unless you have received confirmation that your food parcel has been approved.

Emergency Food Support
Food parcels are intended to provide short-term emergency support during times of crisis and are not designed to meet long-term food needs.
Households can receive up to three emergency food parcels within a six-month period. Where further support is needed, we will work with referral partners to help people access more sustainable solutions, including our Community Shops and wider advice services.
As our parcels are made up from donated food, we cannot guarantee specific food items. Toiletries are also subject to availability.
Our Community Shops
If you live within 1.5 miles of one of our Community Shops, you may be eligible to become a member.
For a contribution of £5 per week, members can choose from a wide range of food and household essentials, providing a more sustainable, flexible and dignified way to access affordable food.
Please contact us for further information about your nearest Community Shop and how to become a member or view the highlighted page.
Thank You
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
These changes will help ensure our emergency food provision remains available for those experiencing crisis while connecting people with the wider advice, guidance and practical support needed to improve their long-term wellbeing, build financial resilience and reduce the need for future crisis support.
