Food Partnership Coordinator – South Tyneside Open Collective for Good Food (STOC)
The Food Partnership Coordinator leads the development, coordination and promotion of the STOC Good Food Partnership, a cross-sector collaboration working to create a healthier, fairer and more sustainable food system across South Tyneside.
Partnering with the Public Health Department within South Tyneside Council, the Food Partnership Coordinator will work within the voluntary sector as part of the Hospitality & Hope Team. With primary objectives of tackling food poverty, improving access to healthy food, supporting local food economies and reducing environmental impact, the Coordinator will build on the progress achieved to date, supporting delivery of the South Tyneside Sustainable Food Action Plan, strengthening partnerships, securing funding opportunities and embedding sustainable food principles across the borough.
The role will act as a central connector between communities, voluntary sector organisations, businesses and statutory partners. The Coordinator will champion the STOC Good Food brand as the recognised hub for sustainable food activity in South Tyneside, ensuring that residents, organisations and stakeholders can access information, resources and opportunities to engage in the local good food movement.
Duties & Responsibilities
Partnership Development & Stakeholder Engagement
- – Coordinate and strengthen the STOC Good Food Partnership, ensuring effective collaboration across public, voluntary, community and private sector stakeholders.
- – Convene and facilitate partnership meetings, themed working groups and cross-sector networks to support delivery of the Sustainable Food Action Plan.
- – Build and maintain strong relationships with existing partners while identifying and engaging new organisations, businesses and community groups.
- – Ensure the voices of communities and people with lived experience are reflected in partnership activity and decision-making.
- – Support collaborative working between organisations delivering food-related services, projects and initiatives across South Tyneside.
Sustainable Food Action Plan Delivery
- – Support implementation, monitoring and reporting of the South Tyneside Sustainable Food Action Plan, aligned with the Sustainable Food Places framework.
- – Identify gaps, priorities and opportunities for new projects that support healthier diets, food security and environmental sustainability.
- – Coordinate data collection and reporting to demonstrate progress against local and national sustainable food priorities.
- – Support ongoing progression through the Sustainable Food Places accreditation pathway, including preparation for future award levels.
Funding Development & Project Support
- – Identify and pursue funding opportunities that support delivery of sustainable food projects and partnership priorities.
- – Develop funding proposals and collaborative bids in partnership with local organisations and statutory partners.
- – Support delivery of funded initiatives that address food insecurity, improve food skills, promote sustainable diets and strengthen local food systems.
- – Contribute to regional funding opportunities and collaborative programmes where appropriate.
Communications, Brand & Digital Development
- – Promote the STOC Good Food brand as the central hub for sustainable food activity across South Tyneside.
- – Manage and maintain the STOC website, ensuring it provides accessible information about local food support, projects, resources and borough-wide best practice.
- – Coordinate digital communications including social media channels, newsletters and online content to raise awareness of sustainable food initiatives.
- – Develop marketing and communications campaigns that promote healthier eating, food sustainability and local food engagement.
- – Support storytelling, case studies and media content that showcase local success and partnership impact.
Representation and Advocacy
- – Represent STOC Good Food and South Tyneside at local, regional and national forums, including Sustainable Food Places and regional partnership networks.
- – Contribute to local authority strategies and consultations relating to food, health, sustainability and community resilience.
- – Advocate for sustainable food priorities across sectors including health, education, environment, planning and economic development.
- – Support alignment between the Sustainable Food Action Plan and wider borough strategies relating to food poverty reduction, public health and environmental sustainability/carbon reduction.
Community Engagement & Good Food Movement
- – Promote public awareness of sustainable food themes including food access, healthy eating, food waste reduction and local food economies.
- – Support events, campaigns and initiatives that inspire residents to participate in the local good food movement.
- – Encourage community involvement in growing, cooking, sharing and learning about food.
- – Strengthen links between residents, community organisations and local food businesses.
Monitoring, Reporting & Governance
- – Maintain accurate records of partnership activity, funding outcomes and project delivery.
- – Produce reports, presentations and briefings for senior leaders, trustees and partner organisations.
- – Support governance processes including Steering Group and Working Group coordination.
- – Ensure compliance with organisational policies, funding requirements and reporting standards.
Essential Skills & Experience
- – Strong partnership development and stakeholder engagement skills.
- – Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- – Demonstrable project coordination and organisational skills.
- – Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- – Experience of facilitating meetings, workshops or collaborative groups.
- – Knowledge or experience of community development, public health, sustainability or food systems.
- – Experience managing digital platforms including websites and social media.
- – Ability to develop funding applications and support collaborative bids.
- – Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office and digital communications tools.
- – Ability to represent organisations professionally at external meetings and events.
Desirable Experience
- – Experience working within the voluntary, community or public sector.
- – Knowledge of the Sustainable Food Places framework or similar partnership models.
- – Experience coordinating multi-agency programmes or partnerships.
- – Understanding of food poverty, diet-related ill health and environmental sustainability.
- – Experience supporting/delivering communications campaigns, events and public engagement.
- – Experience collecting and analysing data to demonstrate impact.
- – Driving licence and willingness to travel locally and regionally.
